President's Letter

Welcome to 2012! It’s hard to believe another year has come and gone but time flies when you’re having fun. We had 20 Club events again in 2011 including a mix of club standards and several new ones that added some real excitement to the year. Seven drive tours (from one to three days) took us from Lake Almanor, through the Sierra Foothills for several tours, to the Wine Country, across the state of Nevada and even to a national park (Yosemite). Tech sessions, a breakfast, dinners and other events all rounded out a great year. For 2012 our goal is to provide a range of quality events to suit our members tastes, hopefully driving up participation and the fun factor!
As you can see from the listing on page 2, your Board remains pretty much intact from last year. I want to personally thank our board for their continuing support and service to the club. These are the people that help make your club special. When you see them at a club event, make sure you thank them for their service. It’s the only “pay” they get. I also want to welcome Bob McLaughlin to our board as incoming Secretary. Bob is a long time PCA member who transferred to our region a few years ago from San Diego. He brings considerable region and national experience to the table which I’m sure will benefit our club going forward. Bob was also recognized as our region’s Enthusiast of the Year 2011. Congratulations, Bob!
I also want to mention the efforts of Karen Goody, Activities Co-Chair who worked tirelessly on our two late season events: Volunteers Appreciation Dinner and the Holiday Party. Thank you, Karen!
The Planning Party is on the immediate horizon and I hope you can attend. Contributing ideas, and having that willingness to share and volunteer to help plan and execute events is critical to the continued success of the club. Come out and join us for a fun evening—with raffle prizes for event volunteers. Make participation in more SNR club events a resolutions for the new year. See the information about the event on page 10.
Another event to keep in mind for this year is Porsche Parade in Salt Lake City. If you haven’t been to a Parade, this should be a good one and it’s not too far. It’s a week of Porsche immersion and fun where you’ll make new friends and see old ones. More on that next issue.
I hope to see you all at our next event. Until then, be safe!
